Today I wore a blue Indian pubjabe suit and contact lens. Sometimes we can really tell how observant kids are. I had quite a few students asking me what happened to my spectacles the moment they saw me. One innocently asked me whether I can see or not. Then his friend told him excitedly that I must be wearing contact lens.

Then one child asked me why I was not wearing "China clothing" but instead I'm wearing a "Malay costume". Hmm, I think he is having some "culture identity crisis" perhaps. I'm glad that many of the children of 1G wore their traditional costumes. Perhaps we can have a fashion show and explanation in class if time permits.

While we were walking back to class in the morning, a child said that I am Beibei, because Beibei is blue in colour, and that she is Huanhuan since she is in red traditional costume. The innocence of children... I think I should be thankful that she remembers the olympics mascot. =)

Week 5 Topical Test

Math Topical Test would be on Friday 25 July 2008.
Topic tested would cover 2 chapters on Length and Mass.

Racial Harmony Day 2008

Today we commenorated Racial Harmony Day.

In the morning, the class watched a video on the racial riots that happened in 1964. Last Friday, I mentioned about the racial riots that happened between the Chinese and Malays in 1964. Someone asked me what is a riot, but I couldn't explain much about the riots. So today, I managed to get a video clip on the racial riot which happened in 1964 to understand the importance of harmony in Singapore.

After watching the video, we wrote a journal entry on the different races and festivals we have in Singapore. Then we went to the hall for assmbly at 9.30pm.

During the assembly talk, we had a very entertaining and funny show talk on the different greetings and music you can find in Singapore. We had an enjoyable time today.

Friendship

Zippy's Friends
In Zippy's Friends, we talked about friendship. For a start, each of us recieve a template to design and colour a puppet of their best friend. Most of the children said that their best friend is in class 1G. Someone said that he didn't have a best friend at first before drawing. I said that a family member could also be your best friend. He pondered for some time and said that his daddy is his best friend.

Record Challenge (12 July 2008)

Record Challenge

I really love this flag that's made from drinkcans, because I see how parents, students, staff(teaching and non-teaching staff) worked together to make this beautiful picture. Together we can make a difference.

National Education Booth

I had an enjoyable time playing gigantic pick-up sticks, paper ball and caplet with the kids. Oh ya, the Hidden Picture was captivating too.It attracted even the adults to play along with the kids. In fact, there were some adults who got hooked and challenged each other to find all the hidden pictures within the shortest time.
