My aplogies for not blogging over the last three weeks. My home PC has crashed, and I have been unable to resolve the problem till I got a new harddisk. Anyway, I am back online now. What has 1G been doing so far... National Day parade We discussed about what are the things we would see during National day parade to prepare for the National day Parade. Then each of the children made a badana/scarf during Art lessons. I loaned them the markers home, and all of them returned the markers to school the next day. This shows how responsible they are. I think it is a pleasure to see them take ownership and responsible of the things that are entrusted to them.
We are now preparing for Mid-Autumn Festival. We are learning to make lanterns to decorate our classroom as well as to prepare for the Lantern making competition. Some of the kids decorated their lanterns with stickers whereas some used scissors to do paper cutting. Some kids didn't manage to complete their lantern-making. Fear not. We will have another Art lesson for making lanterns next week.

Art lesson - Painting/Drawing of Merlion and Singapore Symbols

Posted by Picasa This was a lesson that worried me, because 1G was going to try out painting!
Painting can be a very messy job for primary 1 kids. So in the first lesson, we mainly concentrated on tracing out the Merlion onto the cloth, and drawing symbols of Singapore with pencil.
We then painted the Merlion the following day. It was a messy work, but I guess the kids have to learn how to handle it themselves. We created some mess in the toilet, and paint were on the floor. Thank you Caleb, Gerald, Shanton, Joan, Amelia who helped to wipe up the paint on the floor with newspaper. Thank you Shu Hui, Maizatul who helped to peg all the bandana up to dry. Thank you Adam, Lavin and Hakeem, who helped to ensure that everyone throws the newspaper into the trashbag.
On Thursday, 7 aug, we finally completed and fine-tune our bandana with markers. I didn't collect the Bandana as we need to wear the bandana the next day. However, I took a photo of everyone's bandana and Eusuff and Amelia volunteered to film a video of introducing their banada.
